The OTA’s 2012 Organic Industry Survey, recently published the U.S organic food and beverage industry growth of 9.4 percent in 2011, reaching $29.22 billion in sales. The fastest-growing segment in organic food was the meat, fish & poultry category, with 13 percent growth over previous year sales. By comparison, conventionally produced food and non-food items experienced 4.7 percent growth. With growing concerns for food safety related to meat and eggs and frequent wide-spread food recalls, it’s no wonder more and more consumers are turning to organic food.
